32-year-old man arrested for fra¥d; police recover 10 ATM cards

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have apprehended a 32-year-old man at a First Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) stand along Bank road in Yola North local government area, while on surveillance patrol.

The suspect, Joseph Nwakibe, who was arrested on 8th November 2022 is a native of Nnewi South, Anambra State and a resident of Makurdi, Benue State.

According to a statement signed by the Adamawa Police spokesperson, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the suspect was said to have been invited to Yola by his friend Obinna Ajima, now at large, for joint fraudulent activities.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects go around with several expired ATM cards from various banks and await their victims, they usually queue behind customers pretending to withdraw money, then they usually offer to assist anyone they perceive is having difficulties in making transactions and in the process take note of the person’s ATM pin number and smartly swap the card with the fake one in their hands.

Man sentenced to de@th by h@nging for k#lling his bestie for money ritu@l in Bauchi  A High Court sitting in Bauchi State has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Musa Hamza, to de@th by h@nging for k#lling his friend for money ritu@l. The convict, who was arrested on December 21, 2020 was found guilty of k#lling the deceased, a 17-year-old boy named Adamu Ibrahim, in Alkaleri LGA of the state.  After k#lling the deceased, he c#t his neck, pl#ck out his two eyes and p#t them in a bottle. He also b#ried his head and body at different locations. The suspect initially denied the accusation against him before the court at the beginning of the trial, but later admitted it.
